Learning Outcomes

UNDERGRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMME OF CLASSICAL ACCORDION

Level of qualifications: 6

Scope of qualifications: 240 ECTS (8 semesters)

Requirements: 4.2 level qualifications, plus entrance procedure  

The general outcomes expected from the bachelor of classical accordion can be seen in competences (knowledge/skills of transferring professional and artistic insights and results, also performing skills) are the same as expected from any other reproductive music artist and music teacher.

The specific outcomes are divided into those related to professional courses and those related to music theory courses. Additional competences for teaching can be acquired upon choosing the Education Package courses (examinations to be passed). The outcomes of optional courses supplement and follow the outcomes of compulsory courses.

Bachelors will master music actively and passively, but they will be also able to autonomously prepare, score and perform (accordion performance) pieces from various historical and style-periods. They will additionally learn about the accordion orchestra preparation techniques. Individual and group exercises will provide every student, music teacher-to-be, reproductive artist and leader of the accordion orchestra, with knowledge and enable him/her to obtain the best artistic results.   

After the four-year study of classical accordion, the student will be able to: 

  • interpret and analyze pieces (solo, chamber, orchestra) different in terms of their styles  
  • understand individual interpretations and make sense of them 
  • perform during a 40-minute concert  
  • prepare general music literature for the accordion, other instruments, chamber ensembles and accordion orchestras 
  • compose his/her own pieces for the accordion, other instruments, chamber ensembles and accordion orchestras 
  • lead school, amateurish and similar ensembles 
  • recognize and describe the quality sound and formal characteristics of compositions 
  • recognize and interpret a music expression at concerts and research new compositions  
  • analyze and critically consider the music forms from different style-periods 
  • analytically approach the harmonic and polyphonic structure of a music piece 
  • harmonically supplement different melody patterns on his/her own  
  • perform precisely in terms of intonation and metro-rhythm, perceive, memorize and write down music 
  • describe the characteristics  of music pieces, and know the features of particular historical and style-periods 
  • recognize and analyze, as well as differentiate and compare music sorts, epochs and styles 
  • correctly define, analyze and critically consider music forms from different style-periods 
  • orientate in scores and use the instrument for its general purpose  
  • use modern technology and technological skills (text processing, sound processing, note writing)
  • describe, differentiate and use studio and computer equipment, synchronize audio and video records
  • cooperate with different education and cultural institutions 
  • transfer knowledge and skills in the area of understanding forms of music, techniques of instrument, exercises, ability to observe the subjective needs of particular learners 
  • do secondary activities in the field of education and culture in general 
  • continue studying at the graduate level
