Learning Outcomes

UNDERGRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMME OF SOLO SINGING

Name of profession (profile): University Bachelor of Music Singing - univ. bacc. mus.

Level of qualifications: 6

Scope of qualifications: 240 ECTS (8 semesters)

Requirements: 4.2 level qualifications, plus entrance procedure  

The general outcomes of the bachelor of solo singing are seen in competences (knowledge, skills and capacities of transferring professional and artistic insights and results, and performing skills) as expected from other reproductive artists and music pedagogues. 

The specific outcomes are divided into the ones related to professional courses and the ones related to music theory courses. Additional competences for teaching can be acquired through the Education Package courses (examinations to be passed).  The outcomes of optional courses supplement and follow the outcomes of compulsory courses.

Bachelors will acquire proficiency in music actively and passively; they will be competent to independently prepare, arrange and perform pieces – that is, vocal sections from different historical and style-periods. Every student, music teacher- and pedagogue-to-be, but also reproductive vocal musician, will acquire knowledge and reach the peak of his/her music-artistic achievements with the help of individual and group practicing.

After the four-year study, the student will be able to: 

  • interpret and analyze solo, chamber and choir pieces that are different in terms of their history and style 
  • make sense of individual interpretations and understand them
  • understand the need of relating  vocal-technical skills to artistic segments of interpretation 
  • know the function of vocal instrument and apply vocal-technical skills onto compositions from the already determined repertoire  
  • develop critical thinking regarding the collected and received information  
  • evaluate his/her own and other’s interpretation 
  • create and realize his/her own vocal-technical performance  of an artistic piece from the already determined repertoire, and present it in the class, at examination, and/or in public 
  • perform at a 40-minute-long concert – soloist performance (solo piece, oratorio, mass, cantata and/or opera)
  • lead school, amateurish and similar vocal and/or vocal-instrumental ensembles  
  • interpret (piano) for the teaching purpose, play scores, accompany on the piano and alike  
  • to present vocal demonstration in practice through interpreting exercises and parts in groups and individually   
  • recognize and describe  the quality sound and formal characteristics of compositions  
  • recognize and interpret a music expression at concerts, and to research new pieces 
  • analyze and critically consider music forms from different style-periods  
  • analytically approach the harmonic and polyphonic structure of a music piece 
  • harmonically supplement different melody patterns on his/her own
  • perform with precision in terms of intonation and metro-rhythm, perceive, memorize and write down music
  • describe the features  of music pieces, and know the characteristics of particular historical and style-periods  
  • recognize and analyze, differentiate and compare music sorts, epochs and styles 
  • correctly define, analyze and critically consider music forms from different style-periods 
  • get orientated in scores, basic use of the vocal instrument  
  • apply modern technology and technological skills (text processing, sound processing, note writing, software-s for vocal analysis)
  • describe, differentiate and use studio and computer equipment, synchronize audio and video records
  • cooperate with different education and cultural institutions  
  • transfer knowledge and skills in terms of understanding music forms, vocal technique, practicing, ability to notice the subjective needs of particular learners 
  • do secondary activities in education and culture in general 
  • continue studying at the graduate level
